COLORADO SPRINGS -- Greg Norman, who has played in only three Champions Tour events since turning 50 three years ago, has committed to compete at the U.S. Senior Open at the Broadmoor Golf Club July 31-August 3.
The Shark has played in just one other U.S. Senior Open, in 2005, when he finished fourth. He recently finished sixth in another Champions major, the Senior PGA.
“I look forward to my appearance at this year's U.S. Senior Open at the Broadmoor," Norman said in a statement released by U.S. Senior Open officials. "In the weeks preceding this event I will be participating in the British Open and the Senior British Open, which should afford me the opportunity to perform at the U.S. Senior Open.”
Norman was once ranked No. 1 in the world for 331 consecutive weeks. He's won 88 titles worldwide, including British Open championships in 1986 and 1993. The Australian won the International PGA Tour event in Castle Rock in 1989.
Norman will serve as the International team's captain for the 2009 Presidents Cup.
