over nearly 300 golf clubs across the country.

High School Musical 2 is the sequel to the Emmy winner, High School Musical of 2006. The main characters in the movie needed summer jobs, so they became employees at “Lava Springs” Country Club. Of course, at the time of filming the movie, Entrada was still an operating club, with golf tournaments and weddings planned. A schedule was planned out to give enough time for both the movie and the events taking place at the club. However, the whole movie was not filmed in St. George. The first part was filmed in Salt Lake City, at East High School.

The crew of 40-50 actors, choreographers, and hair/makeup people came to St. George 10 days early for rehearsals. The next group of people involved 150 others, including some Disney executives. As for the extras, more than 40 local people were chosen to be in the film. They were age 8 to 20 years old, got paid and were well-fed, but they needed to work a lot and be very patient to be part of HSM2. Early in the filming, Utah Governor Jon Huntsman showed up to watch. One of his daughters is a big fan of the High School Musical movies.

Finally, on August 17, hundreds of local residents met at Entrada to watch the premiere, hours before the rest of the United States got to watch. That night changed television history —  the premiere’s 17 million viewers made it the most-watched basic-cable program ever — which made me glad to visit Entrada. It was a great experience, and we had fun visiting the place where the movie was made.

Disney has plans for another sequel, "High School Musical 3: Senior Year," which most likely will not be filmed at a country club.

Have You Ever Taken Golf Lessons?

I took golf lessons last summer at Flatirons Golf Course in Boulder. I thought all the teachers were really nice. At first you might think it’s boring, but it gets way more fun every day. The only thing I didn’t like was you had to wake up every Friday morning at 7:00 for six weeks. They teach normal golf and they do putting with you. Make sure to listen to what they teach you because it can really help you out with your golfing. Try to make friends there because it will make golfing a lot more fun. They first teach you how to drive, then you start putting. It lasts for two hours. Then, when your class has ended, you get a treat, like popsicles. I never would have guessed how much you could learn from them in just two hours!

In the year 1744, the Gentlemen Golfers of Leith (in Scotland) was the first golf club ever. It was formed to promote a yearly golf competition, and a silver golf club was the prize. Duncan Forbes drafted the club's rules, some of which were:

You must tee your ball within one club's length of the hole.

Your tee must be on the ground.

You are not to change the ball which you strike off the tee.

You are not to remove stones, bones or any break club for the sake of playing your ball, except on the fair green, and that only within a club's length of your ball.

If your ball comes among water, or any watery filth, you are at liberty to take out your ball and bringing it behind the hazard and teeing it, you may play it with any club and allow your adversary a stroke for so getting out your ball.

We recently took a trip to St. George, Utah, where most of the Disney movie High School Musical 2 was filmed. The movie supposedly took place at a country club in New Mexico called “Lava Springs” during the summer, but actually it was filmed in the early spring at a country club named Entrada, located in St. George. St. George is a town with a population of about 70,000, and is located in the southwestern corner of Utah. It’s less than a 2-hour drive from Las Vegas.
Entrada has spectacular scenery, including lava beds and red rocks, which is one of the top reasons why they chose this club
