Coloradan TJ Shehee notches first individual college victory

By Gary Baines – 3/23/2022

TJ Shehee scored a personal breakthrough last summer when he qualified for the U.S. Amateur, earning medalist honors at Columbine Country Club in the process.

On Tuesday, the University of Northern Colorado junior from Mead reached another milestone by recording his first individual college victory.

UNC’s TJ Shehee owns two top-5 individual finishes this season.

Competing in a 65-man field in Kerrville, Texas, Shehee won The Big Texan by two strokes. He posted scores of 69-70-73 for a 4-under-par 212 total. Over the three rounds, he chalked up an eagle, 16 birdies, 10 bogeys and two double bogeys, helping UNC to an eighth-place finish in the 13-team event.

It marked Shehee’s second top-5 showing of the college season as he placed fourth in October at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate.

Two Coloradans have claimed individual titles for UNC this season as Jack Castiglia from Lakewood prevailed at the Ram Masters Invitational in September.
