The four Coloradans who advanced to the final stage of Q-school will have to settle for conditional status on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2023 — at least to start the season.

While everyone who teed it up in the final stage in Savannah, Ga., receives at least a conditional spot on the KFT, the top 40 finishers landed some exempt status. However, none of the Coloradans cracked the top 40 in the 146-man field following Monday’s final round.

Jim Knous of Golden, who has played in 43 PGA Tour events in his career, was the top Colorado finisher, placing 74th at even-par 284, 14 strokes behind champion Bo Hoag.

Sam Saunders of Fort Collins, a veteran of 157 PGA Tour events, was next best at 1 over par, good for 81st place.

Jake Staiano of Englewood (286) will be conditional on the KFT for the second straight year, while Zahkai Brown of Golden (289) hopes to play in more Korn Ferry events in a season than he ever has, with his current high being three in 2022.

Here are the scores of all the Coloradans in Korn Ferry Q-school finals in Savannah, Ga. The top 40 finishers and ties earn some exempt status for 2023, while the rest will have conditional status:

74. Jim Knous, Littleton 70-72-72-70–284

81. Sam Saunders, Fort Collins 73-69-71-72–285

Meanwhile, at other tour Q-school events that concluded in recent days:

— Former Coloradan Gunner Wiebe and former University of Colorado golfer Daniel O’Loughlin were among the 93 players who advanced from the second stage to the final stage of DP World Tour Q-school. Wiebe, a graduate of Kent Denver, finished 20th in the second-stage event in Alicante, Spain, after going 68-68-73-71. And O’Loughlin placed seventh in Huelva, Spain, carding scores of 69-68-63-68. The final stage of DP World Q-school is set for Nov. 11-16 in Tarragona, Spain.

— Lakewood resident Griffin Barela gained conditional membership on PGA Tour Latinoamerica on Friday through a Q-school event at Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. After posting rounds of 68-73-70-73, the 2021 CGA Amateur champion tied for 12th place. With the second- through 12th-place finishers landing exempt status for about the first half of the season, a 5-players-for-1-spot playoff was held involving the golfers who tied for 12th place. Skyler Finnell prevailed in that playoff, leaving Barela and the others among those with Latinoamerica conditional status for this coming season. Three more Latinoamerica Q-school tournaments are upcoming.
