Coloradan Davis Bryant captures title in Nebraska, marking his third victory in the last month

Davis Bryant went winless for roughly his first 10 months as a professional player.

Then the floodgates opened — and how.

The golfer from Aurora, who wrapped up his college career at Colorado State University 15 months ago, on Sunday won the Platte Valley Pro-Am at Scotts Bluff (Neb.) Country Club, where a purse of more than $62,000 was at stake.

That marked the third victory as a pro for Bryant in less than a month as the former CGA Player of the Year won the Wyoming State Open on July 14 and the Inspirato Colorado Open on July 28.

Bryant’s $10,000 first prize in Nebraska brings his total earnings in the last month to more than $125,000, with $100,000 of that coming from the Colorado Open win at his home course, Green Valley Ranch Golf Club in northeast Denver. In addition to his three victories, Bryant also posted a fifth-place showing at the Waterloo Open in Iowa.

In Nebraska over the weekend, Bryant posted scores of 68-62-71 for a 15-under-par total, then defeated University of Wyoming golfer Jaren Calkins in a playoff that stretched to five holes. Bryant’s win at the Colorado Open also came via a playoff.

Joining Bryant as Coloradans who placed in the top 10 in Nebraska on Sunday were AJ Ott of Fort Collins (sixth place) and Jackson Solem of Longmont (ninth).

After a tournament this week in North Dakota, Bryant is scheduled to return to his home state to compete in the Sinclair Rocky Mountain Open Aug. 22-24 at Tiara Rado Golf Course in Grand Junction.
