Coloradans David and Brady Duval place 6th at PNC Championship, marking David’s seventh top-6 showing in the nationally televised event

Golfers with strong ties to Colorado have an impressive history at the PNC Championship, the nationally televised December tournament that features teams including fathers and sons, mothers and kids, grandfathers and grandkids and variations thereof.
Craig and Kevin Stadler claimed the title in 2002, Hale and Steve Irwin in 2003, and David Duval and stepson Nick Karavites in 2016. And that’s to say nothing of second- and third-place finishes along the way.
This year’s event — which concluded Sunday in Orlando — was no exception to the trend of locals on the PNC leaderboard.
David Duval and son Brady, who have spent most of the 21st century as Colorado residents, placed solo sixth place out of 20 teams after being in second place coming down the stretch.

That marks the seventh top-6 finish in the event for David Duval, the former world No. 1 who also has the victory, two seconds, a third and two fourths. In the last three years, David and Brady have gone second, third and sixth.
On Sunday, the Duvals birdied the first five holes in the scramble format and shot a 13-under-par 59 in the final round. They finished at 24 under, nine back of the record 33-under total by Matt and Cameron Kuchar.
The Duvals’ total was three strokes better than David and Nick Karavites’ score when they won in 2016.
Brady Duval plays college golf at Lander University in South Carolina.
Justin and Luke Leonard, who lived in Aspen from 2015-22, tied for seventh place on Sunday, at 23 under.
