Colorado residential courses among the best in the country, according to national ranking; meanwhile, Castle Pines Golf Club’s locker room surpassed by almost none
By Gary Baines – 1/16/2026
When it comes to residential golf courses, Colorado punches far above its weight.
While the Centennial State ranks middle of the pack among states in the nation regarding number of golf courses, it’s solidly in the top 10 when it comes to Golfweek’s recently-published top 200 residential courses in the country.
Specifically, 10 courses in Colorado were among Golfweek’s top 200 in this category, which was made public on Jan. 9. There were only seven states with more than that on the list, and all of them fall largely in the southern half of the U.S.: Florida, California, Arizona, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Georgia.
And, for the record, nine of the 10 courses from Colorado were actually in the top 150. And three were in the top 20 — Colorado Golf Club in Parker (sixth), Cornerstone in Montrose (11th) and Castle Pines Golf Club in Castle Rock (17th).

Here’s the entire list of Colorado courses that made the top 200, plus the No. 1 pick overall regardless of state:

— Resort Courses: Golfweek also ran a ranking of the top 200 resort courses in the U.S. — published on Jan. 8 — and Colorado was similarly well represented — albeit not nearly to the extent of the residential list — with five from the Centennial State making the grade.
Here’s that list, along with the No. 1 pick overall in the category:

— New Courses: Golf Digest picked its best new courses of 2025 (published Jan. 13), and Bella Ridge Golf Club in Johnstown was an honorable-mention selection in the public-course category. Bella Ridge opened in early October.
— Locker Rooms: Meanwhile, Golf Digest recently published a ranking of the 25 best locker rooms in golf, and one club in Colorado made the list.
Castle Pines Golf Club in Castle Rock, which has hosted 22 PGA Tour events over the decades — 21 Internationals, plus the 2024 BMW Championship — was ranked No. 2 on the list. Golf Digest called it “perhaps the best ‘modern’ locker room,” noting it features a full spa. “You can easily fill an afternoon in the high-pressure showers, whirlpool, sauna and steam room.”
The only locker room ranked higher was Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla.
