In unprecedented feat for the CU golf programs, the Buff men and women win tournament team titles outright in the same week; the men do their part with a victory in Palm Desert, where coach Roy Edwards picked up his 20th large-field tournament victory in 20 seasons

The last time the University of Colorado men’s and women’s golf programs had won team tournament titles outright in the same week was … well, never.
But this week, that matter was rectified.
A day after the CU women won the Causeway Invitational in Sacramento, Calif., the CU men completed their end of the bargain on Wednesday by cruising to victory at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, Calif.
The closest the Buff golf teams had previously come to outright team victories in the same week was in late September of 2017 — when the CU women won the Coeur D’Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational and the CU men tied for first but lost in a team playoff to Utah in their own Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational.
In Palm Desert, CU, ranked No. 46 in the nation in men’s NCAA Division I golf, led wire to wire and recorded a 12-stroke victory in the 23-team event. The Buffs ended up at 34 under par for three rounds.
CU did it by putting three individuals in the top 10 out of the 124-man field, with two sharing the runner-up spot. Jackson Rivera (69-67-71), a graduate student in his first season at CU after previously playing for USC, tied at 9 under par with junior teammate Brandon Knight (70-68-69). Both were competing in their home state of California. They finished a stroke behind individual champion Emil Riegger of Maryland, who played his final nine holes in 5 under par.
Knight, who also placed second in this tournament in 2025, is still looking for his first individual college victory, while Rivera won twice as a USC sophomore.
Also placing in the top 10 for CU was junior Ty Holbrook (70-68-71), who tied for ninth at 7 under par.
Rounding out the victorious Buff team were Coloradan Hunter Swanson (17th place, 73-68-72) and Parker Paxton (25th place, 67-72-75).
Wednesday marked the 20th large-field team victory for CU since Roy Edwards became head coach almost 20 years ago. CU’s last team win had come at the 2024 New Mexico Tucker Invitational.
