Strong closing round gives Timbre Shehee of Mead another runner-up finish in her final season at UNC; DU’s Zander Grant places career-best 4th in Arizona

Timbre Shehee no doubt would love to record a victory individually before her college golf career wraps up this spring.
But even if that doesn’t happen, the Mead High School graduate and University of Northern Colorado player has had quite a senior season.
Shehee, the daughter of two PGA golf professionals (Tray and Terra Shehee), matched her college career best on Tuesday by tying for second among 74 players in the Bentwater Women’s Collegiate in Acworth, Ga.
That mark Shehee’s third individual runner-up of the season and her sixth top-7 finish in nine tournaments as a senior.

Shehee, who placed third in the CGA Women’s Amateur last year, recorded the only round in the 60s on Tuesday, firing a 3-under-par 69 to finish at 6-over for the three-round tournament. That left her eight strokes behind runaway winner Veronika Exposito of Louisville.
In round 3, Shehee carded six birdies and three bogeys. That helped lead UNC to a sixth-place team showing in the 12-school event at the heavily-wooded Bentwater Golf Club.
Shehee, currently ranked No. 297 among female NCAA Division I golfers, has at last two more college tournaments left in her career: The “Mo” Morial April 6-8 and the Big Sky Championship April 20-22.

— Elsewhere in NCAA Division I golf involving Colorado-based teams and players, University of Denver junior Zander Grant posted the best finish of his college golf career by tying for fourth out of 96 players on Tuesday in the Bell Bank Pay It Forward Collegiate in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
Grant carded scores of 68-70-72 for a 6-under-par total, which left him four shots back of winner Emil Riegger of Maryland.
It was the first top-10 for Grant in his three seasons at DU, with his previous best being 16th place.
As a team, DU placed eighth among the 17 schools who teed it up at the Wigwam Resort.
