Former CU golfer Justin Biwer lands PGA Tour Americas card with top-5 finish at Q-school

Former University of Colorado golfer Justin Biwer shot four straight sub-par rounds and earned full PGA Tour Americas status on Friday via the fifth and final Q-school tournament.

Biwer, who wrapped up his CU career last spring, posted scores of 69-68-71-68 in San Jacinto, Calif., giving him a 12-under-par total. With a fifth-place finish out of the field of 153 golfers, Biwer earned one of the eight cards available at this week’s tournament.

The season for PGA Tour Americas, a feeder circuit for the Korn Ferry Tour, begins April 16-19 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In all, the schedule features 15 events — with stops in South America, Mexico, the U.S., Canada and the Dominican Republic.

The top 10 players on the PGA Tour Americas points list at season’s end will earn 2027 Korn Ferry Tour cards.

This week at Soboda Springs Golf Course, Biwer made 18 birdies and six bogeys over the four rounds, and he finished four strokes behind Q-school medalist Christian Banke of Anthem, Ariz.

Biwer, owner of the lowest career stroke average in CU men’s golf history, is one of five players with significant Colorado ties to earn status on PGA Tour Americas through 2026 Q-school. Last week, former Colorado State University and University of Kansas golfer Gunnar Broin landed a full card, while Fort Collins resident AJ Ott, former Colorado Christian University golfer Sangha Park and former University of Denver player John Sand gained conditional status.
