With at-large berth, CSU men join Summit League champ DU as NCAA Regional qualifiers from Colorado; Colorado resident Griffin Barela and CU’s Justin Biwer earn individual spots into regionals

A day after capturing its third consecutive Summit League title, the University of Denver men’s golf team learned it will be the 12th seed out of a 14-team field NCAA Regional field in Stockton, Calif.
And Colorado State, despite narrowly missing out on the Mountain West title, landed an at-large berth — specifically the 11th seed out of 13 teams in Bryan, Texas. CSU is ranked No. 69 in the nation by Golfstat and No. 71 by Golfweek.
The men’s DI regionals will be held May 16-18 for all six sites, including the ones in Stockton and Bryan.

In addition to the team qualifiers, landing individual berths into NCAA Regionals were Colorado resident Griffin Barela, the 2021 CGA Amateur champion who plays for Wisconsin (competing in Columbus, Ohio) and University of Colorado freshman phenom Justin Biwer (Norman, Oklahoma.)
DU and CSU were two of 81 DI men’s teams — 30 automatic qualifiers as conference champs, and 51 at-large schools — who earned NCAA Regional berths.
Denver will compete in a region where the top seed is Arizona State, while Pepperdine is No. 1 in the region where CSU is playing.
The top five team finishers — and top individual not on those teams — from each regional will earn spots in the NCAA national championships, set for May 27-June 1 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
