DU men still in the hunt for berth into NCAA national championship as Carson Griggs shares individual lead at regional; CSU-Pueblo remains in third place at NCAA DII nationals
By Gary Baines – 5/17/2022
The University of Denver men’s golf team remained very much in contention for a spot in the NCAA Division I national championships, while DU’s Carson Griggs shares the individual lead after Tuesday’s second round of the NCAA Stockton, Calif., Regional.
With the top five team finishers at each regional site advancing to the NCAA finals — set for May 27-June 1 in Scottsdale, Ariz. — DU stands in sixth place out of 14 teams in Stockton. And the Pioneers, the Summit League champions, are just a stroke behind fifth place Louisiana State going into Wednesday’s final round.

Griggs, runner-up in the 2021 CGA Match Play, is part of a six-way tie for the individual lead at 7-under-par 137. Griggs shot a 4-under 68 on Tuesday that included six birdies and two bogeys.
Meanwhile, Colorado State dropped into 10th place in the Bryan, Texas Regional. The Rams, who sit at 20 over par, are 21 strokes out of fifth place at the site. Christoph Bleier is leading CSU individually at 1-under-par 143, which leaves him in 17th place.
