Will No. 7 be lucky for Coloradan Micah Rudosky?

Hard to say, but the resident of Cortez is happy to have the opportunity to find out.

Rudosky, the longtime PGA head professional at Conquistador Golf Course in the southwest corner of Colorado, on Sunday qualified for the 2027 Senior PGA Championship, which will mark the seventh senior major championship for the 56-year-old. He’s missed the cut in his first six senior majors — four Senior PGAs and two U.S. Senior Opens.

Rudosky has Senior PGA Championship start No. 5 on his schedule thanks to finishing in the top 35 and ties — out of a field of 264 — at the national Senior PGA Professional Championship, which wrapped up on Sunday in Gold Canyon, Ariz.

Specifically, the four-time Colorado PGA Professional Champion tied for 29th place at 4 under par for 72 holes. He carded scores of 70-74-68-72, making 14 birdies, seven bogeys and a triple-bogey 8 for the week.

As it tuned out, Rudosky qualified for the 2027 Senior PGA Championship with a stroke to spare as the players at 3 under par or better for the week punched their tickets to the senior major. Next year’s Senior PGA Championship is set for April 15-18 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.

In late July, Rudosky won his second Colorado Senior PGA Professional Championship, this one at Fort Collins Country Club.

Joining Rudosky in making the cut at Superstition Mountain was 2022 national Senior PGA Professional Champion Matt Schalk of Erie, who tied for 57th place (74-68-76-71).
